Golf Course

The Quarry Website

The Quarry is a pristine golf and recreational development located in North Naples, 20 minutes from downtown. The centerpiece of the area is the 320 acre Stone Lake, which was created from an old limestone quarry. A championship golf course, created by Hurdzan/Fry, winds a links style course around the perimeter of the lake. The course opened in January 2007.

Hole by Hole Descriptions

Hole #1
Par 4 - 341 yards

A short, but demanding opening hole. Water lines the left side of the hole with bunkers framing the right. The approach is to an elevated green with no room for error to the left. From the green, enjoy a view of the mile long lake and the adjacent marina.

Hole #2
Par 3 - 210 yards

Standing on the tee it is hard not to be distracted by the adjoining 230 acre lake. Despite the imposing lake, unless one hits the ball too far left, the hole is not too difficult.

Hole #3
Par 5 - 556 yards

A true three-shot par 5 – the longest on the course – is a power hitter’s delight. But the key is proper placement of your shots to set-up the approach to the green. “Cutting the Corner” on the second shot affords slim chance for success and high cost for failure.

Hole #4
Par 4 - 445 yards

This is the start of the “sanctuary loop” – a three hole stretch set amid a natural preserve area. But don’t let the serenity of the setting fool you. This long par 4 is probably the toughest par on the course. In fact, most will be happy with a bogey here.

Hole #5
Par 4 - 431 yards

Like the hole before, this hole is bounded by a large lake on the right and a natural preserve on the left. Unlike the 4th hole, this hole doglegs left away from the water. Playing close to the water will provide the best approach angle to the green. Playing too cautious from the water may leave a blocked approach.

Hole #6
Par 3 - 178 yards

The shortest hole on the course is not one that can be taken lightly. From the back tees, the green is the only grass one will see. The green is shallow and much of it slopes away from the golfer, so good distance control is essential.

Hole #7
Par 5 - 542 yards

A risk taker’s delight. A well-hit tee shot will set up the opportunity to cut off some distance by taking your shot over a diagonal series of bunkers. For the less aggressive, the placement of the second shot is the key to how the hole plays.

Hole #8
Par 4 - 407 yards

A hole that is more visually intimidating but not that difficult if played intelligently. Except for the longest hitters, cutting the corner by hitting it over the lake should be avoided. Keep the ball in play off the tee and the result will be an open approach to the green

Hole #9
Par 4 - 382 yards

Distance is not the key to this hole. The important thing is to put the ball in play for the approach to an elevated shallow green. Probably the best birdie opportunity on the front nine.

Hole #10
Par 4 - 422 yards

The back nine starts with a hole framed by bunkers on the left and natural preserve on the right. Long hitters need to be cautious of hitting through the fairway to the lake. A precise approach is needed to a deep, narrow green set right on the lake’s edge.

Hole #11
Par 4 - 423 yards

A straight tee shot is essential with water and sand along the left side and natural preserve along the right. A tee shot to the plateau fairway will provide a glimpse of the approach to the elevated green. Not much room for error on this hole – control trumps power here.

Hole #12
Par 5 - 532 yards

On this hole, there are opportunities for aggressive play both off the tee and in approaching the green. For the cautious, this hole is a precision golfer’s delight. Are you the type of golfer that goes for the 3 or 4 (but sometimes makes 8), or the kind that plays for the safe 5 or 6. This hole will reveal which you are.

Hole #13
Par 3 - 194 yards

From the tee, the rock-encircled green may look like an impenetrable fortress. Be careful with your club selection, especially when the wind is blowing. While not a long hole, even the best golfers will breathe a sigh of relief with a 3 on this hole.

Hole #14
Par 5 - 555 yards

A tee shot to the elevated fairway will yield an excellent view of the remainder of the hole and the lake lining the left side of the hole. While the lake is the most imposing aspect of the hole, the golfer cannot ignore the eight, strategically placed bunkers.

Hole #15
Par 3 - 205 yards

This hole offers shots not only from different lengths, but also from a wide variety of angles. The back tees challenge the golfer with a carry over the lake with a bailout area to the right. From the forward tees, the carry over is not as daunting but beware of the bunker to the right. A recovery shot from the bunker toward the water can be quite scary.

Hole #16
Par 4 - 379 yards

The final three loop begins with the best chance for a birdie. But don’t get too reckless, lots of trouble lurks for errant shots. The approach to the green, though not long, is tricky because much of the green slopes to the back.

Hole #17
Par 4 - 436 yards

The back tee requires a long carry over the lake to reach the undulating fairway. What’s more, three large bunkers frame the fairway. Beware of the approach – water lurks not just to the left but also right behind the green.

Hole #18
Par 4 - 456 yards

A dramatic finishing hole with a lake lining the entire right side. Be aware of the bunkers pinching the fairway on the left. A tee shot landing on the fairway will leave a long approach to a plateau green. Watch out for the bunker short of the green on the left – its placement makes the green look closer than it really is.

Out - Par 36, 3,492 yards
