Nineteen PGA TOUR Major Winners and six former Champions highlight field
NAPLES, FL (FEB. 8, 2013) – A stellar field of Champions Tour professionals will be in Naples next week when The ACE Group Classic begins on Tuesday at The TwinEagles Club. Nine of the 2012 Money List’s Top 10 and 28 of the Top 30 players have committed to the field and the list of competitors also features six World Golf Hall of Fame members and ACE Group Classic newcomers Rocco Mediate, Steve Elkington, Bart Bryant, Duffy Waldorf and Gene Sauers. Players had until Friday at 5:00 p.m. to register to participate in the event.
“This year’s field is really one of the strongest we’ve had to date,” said Tournament Director Lesley Baker. “The Talon Course at TwinEagles has been a great course for low scores, defending champion Kenny Perry set a Champion Tour record here last year, but apart from the great golf fans will see we’ve added some great tournament experiences for them to enjoy as well.”
On Tuesday, the PGA TOUR Superstore is helping ACE Group Classic fans celebrate of Play Golf America Day at the Golf-A-Palooza from 9a.m. – 4 p.m at TwinEagles. The latest equipment debuts from Tour Edge, Mizuno, Adams, Nike, Bridgestone, Cleveland, Cobra and Callaway will all be on display with on-site club fitting and demos. Golf Clinics will begin at 11a.m. with Dr. Jim Suttie, followed by Champions Tour pro Peter Jacobsen at 2 p.m. and at 3:30 p.m. Divot the Clown will put on an exciting and entertaining trick shot display.
Also beginning on Tuesday, fans can participate in the NCH Healthcare System My Miles for NCH Challenge and the SUBWAY® restaurants Family Putt for Dough. Select groups made up of Champions Tour pros and caddies, tournament volunteers, TwinEagles and NCH Healthcare System representatives and The ACE Group Classic staff will compete with fans each day in the challenge which will culminate in a $10,000 donation to the NCH Healthcare Foundation. The SUBWAY® restaurants Family Putt for Dough is a free, 3-hole putting challenge that gives spectators a chance to test their skills, compete against their family, friends, and fellow fans for the opportunity to win the grand prize of $50,000.
